Lace Stencilling Mini Tutorial
I’m excited to share with you my second new stencil design that is available through Designer Stencils!
Here is a mini tutorial on how you can add some additional embellishments and really give it the lace kind of look and feel. The best part is that this stencil comes in two pieces.
One for the full pattern and the other one for the outline. You can use both together to create the over piped look in this tutorial or use them separately for different effects.
Attach the stencil onto the cake with some masking tape. Then attach a stiff piece of tulle fabric on top to create a nice textured effect on the royal icing.
Spread the royal icing, scrape off the excess and then remove the stencil and tulle. I have used ivory royal icing here because I wanted it to have some contrast to the white outlines.
Allow the base stencil to dry before lining up the outline stencil. Attach to the cake with masking tape and then apply white royal icing. For a more contrasting look, you can even use black royal icing for the outline.
Scrape off the excess and remove the stencil. The royal icing might not spread through the outline evenly, but I like it like that because it looks more natural.
Use royal icing to pipe over all the dots within the flowers and attach some edible pearls.
The edible pearls help to give the pattern a 3D look. You can also try embellishing further with glitter and sanding sugar.
This stencil and more is available for purchase through Designer Stencils. I also have another mini tutorial for my other new stencil here. And finally, if you enjoyed this mini tutorial, you can purchase more detailed PDF tutorials from my online store here 🙂
