Cupcake Workshops – Bringing out your creative side

What I love best about my workshops are seeing people who come proclaiming ‘I’m not a creative person’ bring out their inner artistic side.
In the span about about 4 hours, I get to see wonderful people like Jess and Sarah go from never handling rolled icing to creating fun and colourful sugar art. These lovely girls were such naturals…

Everything is put together with great care…

I believe we all have a creative side regardless of who we are or what we do for a living. Sure, some people get to use their creativity more than others on a daily basis but we all have it in us. 🙂

  1. hi sharon… just wondering how you get your fondant so brown? is it the chocolate bakels? i bought some choc bakels once and it was sooo solid and non-pliable… i couldn’t really work with it. i can’t imagine having to use it to cover an entire cake!

  2. Thank you Phuoc and Nikolina, the girls did such a good job 🙂

Anonymous, I use a gel brown paste and also mix it with a bit of black. If you are colouring a large amount of fondant, try using the powdered brown colouring too (mix it with a little water to make a paste). Personally I have not tried the chocolate bakels, but my friend has told me she used it and had to microwave it a little to warm it up. Hope that helps!
